Beverly Grove Luxury residential interior design.

Our enthusiasm for this home is unexplainable. We don’t often come across design that turns our desire to live there into nothing short of lust! To put it simply, the interior spaces within this home takes you to another world. Living here would be the equivalent to living a life of endless inspiration. Never having a dull moment would be a benefit to say the least!

This designer estate is located in Beverly Hills, California. It was designed by architect Yechiel Yogev, the owner and co-founder of Maya Steel Fabrications. At 9,000 square feet, the home is priced at $12.1 million. Let us just say up front that the lighting design through out the home is what propels the interior design to impressive levels. It absolutely transcends the occupant into a dream world of architectural shapes, colors and textures. The use of stainless steel, mahogany, Jerusalem and sand stones and glass all come together with the warm and cool elements found in the fire-simulated light fixtures and illuminated waterways to create the perfect balanced living environment.

This trophy home boasts 4 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms which includes a guest house. There is a glass-floored 500-bottle wine cellar, an elevator, a 4,700 square foot rooftop pool and deck with glass railings. The home’s large open spaces are defined by high ceilings and massive 20-foot glass walls. The kitchen is built with three stone islands and there is also a screening room and steam room. There is a 40-foot interior waterfall in the home’s atrium as well as a stainless steel and mahogany tread sculpted staircase that spans three stories.

Overall, this home is a one-of-a-kind estate that is definitely worth showcasing. We believe it does justice in proving the relevance in which interior design has in the world today.

Unique wood pendent lights.

Bent wood pendent lights are created by designers James Cerasani and Justin Murphy of The New California Craftsmen located in California. These designers are known for creating unique one-of-a-kind pieces from anything they can get their hands on. The light fixtures featured in this post are inarguably inspiring and inventive and they definitely exhibit a certain design point of view. Unique creations such as these only support our belief that everything can be made beautiful – everything is design!

The wood pendents are built with scrap pieces of bird’s eye maple. Their original inspiration comes from the shape and movement of fire. They are assembled without any glue and each piece is trimmed by hand and is tension-set with aluminum rods. The pendents consist of a collection of organically shaped wooden panels, each panel bent and cut differently from the other. This method of design allows each pendent to be unique in size and form. If nature could somehow create light fixtures through the methods of intelligent design, we suspect that the outcome would certainly be along these very lines. These original pieces are definitely worth buying and, at the very least, celebrating.

After coming across pictures of this home, we felt it was worth mentioning for just the over-the-top uniqueness alone. We have to admit that we haven’t come across a home, especially of this size that was surrounded by this much water. It’s something out of a fairytale! It’s outrageous! And that’s frankly why we love it. The owner/designer made a bold move by constructing a home surrounded by a body of water of this magnitude. Although we are not sure of the identity of neither the owner nor the designer, we do know that the home is located in South Florida. As for the specs, it’s needless to say that every room has a water view. There is also and enormously long driveway that ends on a diamond-shaped motor court floating atop water. The overall layout and design of the home is very symmetrical and appears to be at least three storey’s high. When you consider the gardens and fountains among other luxuries, this home is easily fit for a king.

Believe it or not, this is a home. It’s one of the many architectural masterpieces to be envied in Dubai. This 35,000 square foot mansion was designed by Ehrlich Architects and has been named the Helal New Moon Residence. The name is inspired by the striking aluminum roof that takes on the shape of a crescent moon which is supposedly symbolic of new life. The roof is approximately the size of an entire football field and cantilevers 30 feet on each side of the home. The entrance contains an intricately designed lattice that casts beautiful sunlit designs onto the home’s interior.

The mansion boasts beautiful sculptures, marble floors, floor to ceiling windows and, although near the desert, the grounds contain lush landscape and pools. This home truly is beyond compare.

Unique shaped giant snail design.

This beauty is called The Snail House. It is located in Mexico City, Mexico and it was designed by architect Javier Senosiain. The home has actually been built and it is currently being inhabited by a family. The pictures featured in this post are actual photographs of the residence. Although this home may spark different opinions, let it be known that this concept is exactly why we at Double-U House are so passionate about celebrating architecture and design. To say this home is simply amazing would be an understatement. It is by far the most unusual home we have come across. The home is simply in a world and in a class of its own.

The Snail Home is designed to resemble the shell of – you guessed it – a snail. The interior spaces are also designed with the contours of the edifice so that there are no straight lines. The home is true to its theme regarding the colors and materials used throughout. It is painted with a shell-like paint and the actual material used is a unique ceramic called Grancrete. The interior boasts a kitchen in the shape of a tongue that looks as if it is growing out of a wall. The beds within the bedrooms were inspired along the same lines. The home seamlessly incorporates elements of nature into the interior spaces with an interior garden and bathroom fixtures that resemble underwater trunks and cascades.

To put it simply, with its beautiful vibrant colors and imaginative design, this home is a work of art. The architecture and interior design both work together to create an unusual masterpiece. Although the home may not be desired by everyone, none can argue its success in taking the inhabitant on a journey into a design world they’ve never experienced before.

Although the Lilypad is an unusual concept, we felt it was definitely worth mentioning. There’s just something about it that reminds us of Star Wars. To be honest, it looks like some sort of alien mother ship from outer-space. If you haven’t noticed already, the Lilypad is a modern floating ecopolis. It’s innovative home building for the future. Designed by architect Vincent Callebaut, this concept was inspired by the structure of the giant Amazon Lily pad. The elements of the overall shape consist of three mountains, three marinas, shops and entertainment. It could basically be described as a floating mini-city. As shown in the illustrations, the entire island is enclosed. Inside is an organic system of boulevards and alleyways that maneuver around lush green gardens and an artificial lagoon at the center. If actually brought to reality, we imagine it would be comparable to living full-time on an island resort. Because of its unique architecture, we rate it as one of the best man-made modern islands to be conceived of.

Nature-inspired Australian home.

The Leaf House is an amazing contemporary, nature-inspired structure designed by Undercurrent Architects. The unique home is located in Australia. It’s designed with beautiful open spaces and it has many ways of bringing the outdoors into its interiors. The corrugated copper roof and the twisting steel columns (that are reminiscent of tree roots) give the home a “tree-like” appearance. Along with lush landscape, it has incredible views of the ocean and glass is used throughout.

What we love about this structure is how it proves that the better the architecture, the less furniture will be needed. The twisting columns, irregular shapes and beautiful views tell a story and seem to take the inhabitant on a journey beyond what any piece of furniture could ever do. Nature can be the perfect source of inspiration while also being the perfect escape. In our opinion, this home alone is worth a trip down under.

Love it, love it, love it! Honestly, how else can we begin to describe this post? Designed by Japanese architect Hiroshi Nakamura & Kip Co., this modern apartment design is likened to homes found in some mystical forest from a children’s fairytale. It’s a beautiful converging of structure and nature. Much like the trees surrounding it, the building seems to be alive and breathing. Notice the wood materials used to blend with the bark of the trees and the way in which the building interacts with nature by protruding at various places. Who knew living so close to nature could be so magical?

The inhabitants of this building are immersed in a world of branches. And all 6 apartments are designed in whimsical sizes. The apartments are built on a forested measure in Tokyo, Nihon. It was designed so that from every corner you would be surrounded by a woody frame. The building has compartments that “jet out,” reminding you of wooden birdhouses with windows that act as openings to welcome the many birds of the forest. Whether it’s a cluster of bird houses or a cluster of tree houses, we were excited about calling attention to this unique beauty. In a world where apartment and suburb living can be mundane, we doubt anyone would ever get bored living here.

This pier consisting of luxury hotels was designed by the Asadov Architectural Studio for the City of Sochi in preparation of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. This design is actually one of four different concepts that illustrate island complexes composed of apartments and hotels that are raised above water level on supports and are connected to the shore by a pier.

In this featured concept, the complex is made up of five buildings- each building resting on its own platform or “island.” From an aerial perspective, the “islands” form the Olympic Rings emblem. The dark blue tower is Europe and it resembles the cold of Scandinavian Winter. The black ring is Africa and it’s based on African sculpture. The shape of the red tower uniting South and North America resembles Brazilian carnivals, Aztec sacrifice and Indian conquest. The tower of the yellow ring, Asia, is like a Chinese pagoda. The last continent on the emblem, shown in green, is Australia and is represents Australia’s nature.

Overall, this concept is inspiring and innovative and the design has a playful feel to it-all of which properly describes the concept of the Olympic Games. In a sense, the Olympics is very much about celebrating, and in our opinion, the Asadov Architectural Studio has done a good job at including architecture in this celebration through the introduction of this concept as well as concept #2.
